Most adults need 7-1/2 to 8 hours of sleep per night. Sleep deprivation may affect our mood, memory, alertness and overall quality of life. Researchers believe that sleep is important for recharging the ody's energy. Quality of sleep is just as important as quantity.
Here are some ways to get a good night's sleep:
1.Create a sleep-friendly environment. Be sure that the room is dark and quiet. Use a white noise machine or a fan to lessen outside sounds.
2.Avoid caffeine and exercise late at night. Instead, exercise earlier in the day to maintain energy and sleep better.
3.Don't go to bed hungry... or too full. If you try to sleep after a full meal, the digestive process may disturb you. Going to bed hungry can also make it hard to sleep. If you're hungry, eat a snack containing tryptophan, a substance found in dairy products, turkey, poultry, rice and whole grains.
4.Don't use the bedroom as a work area. Leave the laptop at the office.
