Natural Back Pain Treatment

Ease Back Pain Naturally
Sara Altshul
Herbs and accupressure have had success against back pain lately. An international group of researchers reviewed herbal studies involving 316 patients over 4 to 6 weeks and found that devil's claw (Harpagohytum procumbens) relieved lower back pain as well as a standard 12.5 mg dose of Vioxx, the painkiller that was pulled off the market because of safety concerns. The researchers also found that white willow bark (Salix alba) was as effective as Vioxx. (Both herbs appear to be safer than the drug)
In another study, in Taiwan, researchers reported that six sessions of acupressure given over a month releived lower back pain and improved movement 89% better than the same amount of physical therapy. What's more, acupressure's benefits held up at the 6 month follow up. Food Science of Vermont's devil's claw extract is equivalent to the formulation used in the studies. Take 2 tablets a day. Or try Natur'e Way white willow bark capsules with 15% salicin (one or two daily). To find an accupressure therapist, visit www.prevention.com/links
