Eye Health Tips

Don't take your vision for granted. Visit an eye doctor at least once a year, and in between visits do the following:
1. Eat healthy and exercise to reduce your risk of developing eye diseases.
According to the National Eye Institute, vitamins C and E, along with zinc and beta-carotene, are beneficial to those at risk of age-related diseases.
2.Don't smoke.
It can iincrease your risk of developing diseases such as glaucoma and age related macular degeneration.
3.Wear sunglasses.
The sun's ultraviolet rays may cause corneal sunburn and contribute to cataracts and macular degeneration. Skin cancer may also develop on and around the eyelids. Be sure to purchase glasses that protect from both UVA and UVB rays - the two types of ultrviolet rays.
4. Protect your eyes
During sports and work to prevent accidents that may damage eyes.
5. Maintain a healthy blood pressure.
High blood pressurer can lead to diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of blindness. It also increases the risk of glaucoma.
