First Aid Information

Daily First Aid Tips
Learning how to treat minor injuries is important, especially since treating them properly can reduce the risk of complications.
Here are some tips on treating common injuries:
1. Cuts:
Wash minor cuts with soap and water, apply an antibiotic cream and cover with a sanitary bandage.
If the bleeding is heavy, apply pressure using a clean cloth. Avoid using products such as hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on broken skin. This may actually kill healthy skin cells and tissue.
2.Minor burns:
Run cool water over the burn until the pain subsides, and then apply antibiotic ointment and a clean bandage to keep the burn dry. Contact a doctor if the burn is large or if redness or swelling gets worse.
3.Nosebleeds:
Pinch the soft portion of the nose between the bridge and tip. Lean slightly forward to allow the blood to drain. Tilting the head back can cause the blood to drain down your throat, which can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Place a cold compress on the bridge of the nose to help stop bleeding.
