Circuit Training for Seniors

Longevity for Seniors
Baby Boomers are aging and by the years 2030 70 million Americans will be older than 65. The fitness levels of these individuals will determine how much longer they could live. This fact alone should send more seniors in search of the right gym to assist their goals of being healthy enough to enjoy there golden years.
Seniors are especially prone to joint problems, so many traditional fitness centers may be out of the question. Today much of the new equipment coming out is much more joint friendly, not only for the seniors but for the younger generations who can avoid years of wear and tear through using this joint friendly exercise equipment. Many of these clubs are geared toward the senior market, others may be geared toward women or men, either way you have many more choices today than in previous generations.
Many of these facilities sponsor joint activity, which helps facilitate interaction between members. As Seniors age many identify this as a must in any activity as they try to expand their circle of friends, which has a larger natural rate of loss than at any time in their lives. This interactive format opens many doors to the senior for new experiences to look forward to.
The balance of resistance training, and cardiovascular work helps to rediscover a greater awareness of ones self while increasing range of motion, strength, endurance, confidence and helping to combat some of the natural aches and pains of aging, Additionally many internal benefits have been proven in various studies from the increased activity level, such as: heart healthy benefits, immune system benefits, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, and many more.
Plan on staying around as long as you can and benefit from exercise. Whatever you choose as your fitness regimen, make sure it fits your lifestyle, and doesn't feel like a chore. Try to make it an extension of you and the benefits will be amazing.
