What Are Your Water Needs

Here is a nifty tool found at about.com under nutrition. It is a Hydration Calculator which will help you determine the proper amount of water you should be taking in on a daily basis. Read the article then calculate your hydration levels.

Water is often over-looked as a nutrient. People who do not drink enough water feel lethargic, have headaches, muscle aches and cramps. Do you know how much water you should drink each day?

This calculator will help you determine how much water you need to drink each day. Although you will get some of your water need from the foods you eat, the best source for water is really just water. Herbal teas, low-sugar soy beverages, rice beverages and milk are also good sources. Fruit juices and soft drinks are OK, however you may add excess calories with the added sugar. Soups will add lots of water too, just remember that canned soups usually contain high amounts of sodium. Caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and colas have traditionally been thought to be diuretic, however research shows that when your body gets used to the caffeine you may not lose much fluid at all.
